A VCE visual diary/folio is the evidence of a student's creative skills and experience over a one year period. In this tight timeframe, it must effectively demonstrate your artistic skills, a creative design process, a distinctive style and originality in concepts.

This intensive course is designed to help students get a head start in the medium of photography within a VCE context. Year 12 is an extremely busy year and it can be difficult to balance the expectations of an Art folio amongst your other subjects. For that reason, it is fantastic to start early and get your ideas flowing.

This course will help guide you through digital workflow practice required for your visual diary, along with a large amount of photographic techniques required to produce a thorough exploration of experiments in this medium. You will learn photographic language relevant to your theoretical study of artists combined with understanding the creative benefits of capturing your images on a manual setting with a DSLR camera. Consider toy cameras, pin hole cameras and cameraless photography such as photograms and the scanner in your explorative process.
